Forum "Former Comme Jamais": CNF funds 4 projects in the Franco-Tenoise community

  • Community commitment

On May 25 and 26, 2023, Collège Nordique inaugurated an innovative event: the "Former Comme Jamais" forum, held in partnership with the Franco-Ténoise community. The aim of this large-scale gathering was to identify training needs within the community, while developing effective strategies for dealing with the labor shortage. The essence of the forum lay in its ambition to give the community a voice and to collaborate in the selection of concrete projects, which would then be funded to the tune of $100,000.

From dream to action

Based on their shared dreams, forum participants identified 5 themes from which 9 evocative proposals emerged. Several committees were given responsibility for working on each of these, with the aim of achieving the priorities identified for each of the proposals during the forum.

These evocative proposals are perfectly in line with the implementation of the CNF's business plan and its five areas of intervention: the learning environment, links with the workplace, diversity, equity and inclusion, community collaboration and northern development.

4 projects made possible thanks to Collège Nordique funding

The Ténoise community submitted various project applications, all of which were evaluated by a committee made up of Collège Nordique staff members, according to selection criteria set out in an applicant's guide, such as :

  • Enhance the expertise of Francophones and Francophiles in the Territories to address the shortage of skilled labour.
  • Contribute to the development of community collaboration between the CNF and Francophone and Francophile organizations in the Territories.
  • Develop projects based on local realities and the needs of individuals and communities.

Each project is based on the realities of the environment and the needs of individuals and communities in order to design adapted solutions. In the end, four projects were chosen and received funding ranging from $8,000 to $35,000.

These projects include :

SuccessBridge: Fostering the integration of new arrivals in small businesses

This project is a CDETNO initiative designed to support small and medium-sized businesses in the successful integration of immigrant workers, with a particular focus on French-speaking communities.

Integrated program for francophone organizational strengthening

The PIROF is presented by the Fédération franco-ténoise (FFT), another flagship project in this selection. It aims to strengthen the capacities of Francophone communities by improving governance, human resources practices and integrating new technologies.

Forming 'by and for' us

The Association Franco-Ténoise du Sud et de l'Ouest (AFTSO) unveils its " Form 'by and for' us" project , which aims to enhance the skills of members of French-speaking communities by offering training workshops designed specifically for them.

Mentoring: news managers

The "Mentoring: Head of Information" project is supported by Médias Ténois, with the aim of strengthening both the specialized skills and practices associated with the position of Head of Information as it currently exists, and the development of crucial new know-how that will complement these to support the transformation launched at Médias Ténois.

These four projects, each as different as the next, reflect the diverse needs and aspirations of the Northwest Territories' French-speaking communities. The projects are currently developing their action plans and will be finalized by early summer.
Collège Nordique is delighted to support these innovative initiatives, which will help strengthen skills, inclusion and socio-economic development in the region.
