Intercultural and intergenerational mentoring
The twinning with Dene elders was initiated by Collège nordique to enable learners of the tłı̨chǫ course to learn more about aboriginal culture in Yellowknife.
So, on November 12 between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm, Dene elders, tłı̨chǫ language learners and Collège Nordique employees gathered to begin a new session of the intercultural and intergenerational mentoring project.
During the evening, they got to know each other by telling stories and sharing a meal with bannock together. At the end, the seniors were paired with the learners. Throughout the session, they will engage in cultural activities together, where the elder will have the opportunity to pass on his or her knowledge of Dene language and culture to the learner.
