Status :

This workshop is intended for early childhood educators and francophone parents in the North (NWT, Yukon, Nunavut).

Offered online by Collège Nordique, this practical and informative workshop is led by Carrie Jansen Miville, a bilingual speech-language pathologist. She has extensive experience in supporting language and communication development in preschool- and school-aged children, as well as in guiding school teams and families to create inclusive environments.

It will allow you to:

  • better understand the development of language, speech, and communication;
  • explore strategies to support children’s growth and success;
  • strengthen the skills and knowledge of parents and school teams to foster environments that promote language development.

You will leave with a clearer understanding of key stages in language and speech development, along with practical tools to support children and collaborate effectively with families and educational settings.

About the facilitator:

Carrie Jansen Miville is a bilingual speech-language pathologist and consultant since 2009. She first worked in acute care hospitals, then in public health services with preschool children and early intervention teams. She also worked with the Edmonton Down Syndrome Society. Since 2019, she has been collaborating with the Northwest Territories’ Francophone School Board, both remotely and in person, with preschool- and school-aged children. She is dedicated to inclusive practices and to creating environments that foster children’s language, communication, and speech development.

This workshop is offered in collaboration with Réseau TNO Santé with funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada.
