After the bombing of his family's chocolate factory, Tareq Hadhad, a young Syrian refugee, must rebuild his life in the small town of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Although he now lives in a new country, he still plans to study medicine. When his father, Issam, insists on his speedy involvement in the family's survival, Tareq must reluctantly commit to a new project: rebuilding the family chocolate factory. The business will meet with unexpected success, and Tareq will be faced with a difficult choice: continue down the path laid out by his father, or abandon his family for medicine.
