This course explores the role and complementarity of the various professionals who support the holistic development of young children in early childhood settings. Through 20 thematic modules, participants learn about the roles of specialists such as speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, pediatricians, Elders, and family doctors, as well as the collaboration strategies essential to an inclusive and coordinated educational approach.
Rooted in the reality of francophone northern educational environments, this course emphasizes interprofessional collaboration, understanding each professional’s role, and co-constructing children’s well-being. It promotes a reflective and collaborative stance, enabling early childhood educators to work in partnership with families, specialists, and the community to support the optimal holistic development of children.
By the end of this training, you will be able to:
Collaborate with speech-language pathologists to support children’s language and communication development;
Work in partnership with occupational therapists to foster children’s motor and sensory participation and autonomy;
Work indirectly with family doctors to support overall health and preventive practices in early childhood;
Collaborate indirectly with various health professionals to support children’s development.
This course is intended for:
Individuals who work or wish to work in the early childhood sector in Northern Canada;
Educational assistants and students in education who work or wish to work in the early childhood sector in Northern Canada.
