This fully online training was designed to support anyone newly arrived within the Franco-Ténois community. It invites participants to explore the history, political structures, and social realities of the Northwest Territories, while highlighting the richness and challenges of a minority francophone community in a Northern context. It is intended for anyone who works in, or wishes to become involved with, francophone organizations in the NWT.
Throughout the course, participants will develop a deeper understanding of what shapes the Northwest Territories: their history, population, and key issues, as well as the strength and resilience of the communities who live there. Participants will learn how Franco-Ténois francophonie was built, how it is organized today, and how each person who joins it contributes to its vitality.
The training also encourages participants to reflect on their own role within this environment. Its goal is to help participants feel equipped, confident, and genuinely welcomed into their new professional or volunteer setting.
