Physical and Mental Health, Emotional Well-Being and Environmental Maintenance

This course explores the foundations and practices that promote children’s health, well-being, safety and overall development in early learning environments. Divided into 20 thematic modules, it covers topics such as physical and mental health, the effects of stress and trauma, movement, social-emotional development, emotions, as well as self-regulation and co-regulation. The course also addresses the design of learning environments, professional well-being, and practices related to hygiene, cleaning, disinfection and infection prevention. Collège Nordique is accredited by SOFEDUC. One Continuing Education Unit (CEU) may be earned for every 10 hours of training completed.

About the course

This course explores the foundations and practices that promote children’s health, well-being, safety and overall development in early learning environments.

Divided into 20 thematic modules, it covers topics such as physical and mental health, the effects of stress and trauma, movement, social-emotional development, emotions, as well as self-regulation and co-regulation.

The course also addresses the design of learning environments, professional well-being, and practices related to hygiene, cleaning, disinfection and infection prevention.

Grounded in the realities of Northern Francophone early learning environments, this course emphasizes preventive, inclusive, culturally sensitive and evidence-based practices. It encourages participants to observe children’s needs, adapt their interventions, collaborate with families and professionals, and adopt a reflective, ethical and caring approach.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • implement safe, ethical and caring professional practices;
  • collaborate effectively with families and various professionals;
  • contribute to the development, health and well-being of every child through an inclusive and evidence-based approach.

This course is intended for:

  • people who work or wish to work in the early childhood sector in Canada;
  • educational assistants and education students who work or wish to work in the early childhood sector in Canada.
