A warm moment to celebrate early childhood education achievements at Collège Nordique

  • Life at the Collège
  • Community Engagement

On December 13, 2025, Collège Nordique brought together more than 45 students, their families, and members of the team for a potluck holiday gathering showcasing the rich cultural diversity of the North… and the deep pride of our community.

For the first time, a festive event united students from various programs and courses, creating a rare and meaningful interdisciplinary moment of connection.

This celebration, both friendly and deeply significant, highlighted college achievements while fostering genuine ties among students with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

A celebration reflecting Northern realities and the bonds that unite us

To open the event, Rita Mantla presented the fresh bannocks (a traditional dish) she had prepared for the occasion. She shared their cultural meaning, highlighting bannock’s important role in gatherings, sharing, and the transmission of traditions. This cultural grounding set the tone: a celebration centered on mutual respect, learning, and openness.

Participants then introduced the dishes they had brought. Several had even carried ingredients from their home countries, adding a personal and emotional touch to the evening. Behind each plate was a story: a family celebration, a childhood memory, a tradition passed down through generations.

These exchanges fostered a sense of authentic connection and reminded us how cultural diversity is a true strength within Collège Nordique, especially for students who often live far from loved ones and seek to rebuild a sense of belonging in the North.

A certificate ceremony that highlights remarkable commitment

The evening also shone a light on student achievements in the field of early childhood education. 13 students completed at least one of the following courses:

  • Early Childhood Culture in the Canadian North (In French)
  • Professionalism, Health and Safety in Early Childhood Education (In French)

The certificate ceremony unfolded in a warm atmosphere, with each accomplishment greeted with enthusiastic applause. These courses, firmly rooted in Northern realities, prepare future early childhood educators to offer compassionate, culturally informed, and developmentally appropriate support to young children in the North.

To acknowledge their hard work, students also received gift bags containing books, a planner, and chocolates — a simple gesture that was warmly appreciated.

Games, laughter, and conversations: a repas-partage that brings people together

Between culinary presentations and certificate handovers, the evening was energized by games that got everyone moving. Small prizes were awarded in a joyful atmosphere, adding a playful dimension to the gathering.

Throughout the activity, conversations were spontaneous and lively. People talked about culinary traditions, life journeys, cultural practices, and the unique challenges and joys of studying in the North. These exchanges perfectly illustrate the strong need for connection within the student community, particularly in a Northern context where solidarity and togetherness carry special meaning.

A proud, connected, and inspiring community

This year-end celebration highlighted not only academic success, but also the collective strength of Collège Nordique’s student community.
Every shared dish, every conversation, and every certificate reflected a journey, a form of resilience, and a deep commitment to both learning and community.

Collège Nordique is proud to support students in their educational journeys and to create spaces where culture, learning, and community come together — and where moments like this one become possible.
