Collège Nordique would like to inform its community of recent changes made by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to the eligibility criteria for the LINC/CLIC program.
These updates result from new national requirements and apply to all organizations delivering IRCC-funded settlement services.
As of April 1, 2026, some economic class immigrants can access settlement services for a maximum of six years after obtaining permanent residence.
Starting April 1, 2027, this period will be reduced to five years.
These changes do not apply to family class immigrants, refugees, or certain other eligible clients.
Since April 1, 2026, Collège Nordique must verify eligibility before any registration. If a person does not meet IRCC criteria, they cannot be enrolled in the LINC/CLIC program. In such cases, referrals to other appropriate services may be offered.
Effective immediately, new registrations are no longer offered for CLB levels 5 to 8. Individuals assessed at these levels will be directed toward other services that better meet their needs.
Individuals who were registered before March 31, 2026, may continue their courses until June 30, 2026. After this date, these levels will no longer be offered, in accordance with IRCC requirements.
Collège Nordique remains committed to supporting each learner in their journey and to providing solutions adapted to the Northern context.
Our team remains available to answer questions and guide individuals toward appropriate resources.
