At Collège Nordique, language learning goes far beyond the classroom to offer our student community an enriching and fun experience.
Recently, our students had the chance to take part in a series of events organized by the faculty and the NWT community.
AFCY theatrical play
The play "Il était une fois et alors?" (“Once upon a time, so what?”) by the Association Franco-Culturelle de Yellowknife (AFCY) was an unforgettable moment for our students. Immersing themselves in this humorous show enabled them to discover a new world of French language, art and culture, while having fun at the same time.
AFCY is a major player in the Francophone ecosystem, with whom we work closely to ensure a vibrant Francophone cultural life in Yellowknife.
Urban adventures with our teacher David Stephens
The surprises didn't stop there. The bus tour organized by David was a unique urban adventure where LINC learners could discover Yellowknife's hidden treasures while practicing their English.
Film screening with Natalia
Natalia Perez, our French teacher, took her students to the movies. The screening of the film "Étoile du Nord" (“Star of the North”) offered them an immersive experience to practice their French language skills in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Salsa and intergenerational exchanges
An unforgettable evening of salsa dancing brought our students together for the Rendez-vous de la Francophonie. At the same time, our intergenerational twinning program enabled enriching exchanges between our Tłı̨chǫ learners and Dene Elders at workshops organized by the Collège.
Common goal: learning while having fun
These varied events share a common goal: to encourage our student community to learn the language in a fun environment. As Rosie Benning, Language School Manager, explains:
Cultural activities are invaluable opportunities for our student community to practice the language while having fun and building connections with the community. These moments of sharing are essential in their learning journey.
At the CNF, we firmly believe that language learning goes beyond textbooks and that every experience, whether cultural, artistic or social, is an opportunity to deepen one's understanding of the language and its diversity. Join us on this adventure, where learning goes hand in hand with pleasure!
