Official announcement by MP Michael McLeod

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming the Member of Parliament for the NWT, Mr. McLeod, for an official announcement. 

Here's a summary: The Government of the NWT established the “New Opportunities for Seniors program”, providing grants to senior-serving organisations to fight against social isolation and raise awareness about topics such as fraud. As a further commitment to their overall well-being, pension improvements and a new dental care plan are proposed for low-income seniors. 

At the event, Patrick Arsenault thanked the Government of the NWT for its support of the twinning project with the community’s Dene elders.  

Additionally, we currently have a new tutoring program: this program aims to connect newcomer children with caring seniors or other adults in the NWT community to help children achieve their educational goals at school and in the long term.
