30 Inspiring Minutes with Corinne Urakawa at Collège Nordique

On Saturday, January 20, 2024, Collège Nordique had the privilege of welcoming Corinne Urakawa for a captivating session of "30 inspiring minutes". This activity, part of the LINC courses, brought together around 20 people.

Corinne's inspiring journey: a path strewn with obstacles

Originally from Japan and from a wealthy family, Corinne's life took an unexpected turn when she lost everything. After trying to start a business in Osaka, she found herself ruined following an earthquake. Eventually, her determination to rebuild her life led her to New York.

Her immersion in jazz bars led to a brief foray into singing, but she soon changed direction. Attracted by the American dream, she began the process of obtaining a work visa in the United States, but reality guides her towards Canada.

The NWT: perseverance and a deep connection with nature

Arriving in the Northwest Territories in 2015, Corinne discovered a deep connection with the region thanks to a chance encounter with an aurora borealis photographer. She discovered the beauty of the aurora, marking a moment of awareness of the beauty of the planet.

Today, she works in the kitchen of a camp in the North, fulfilling her dream of exploring the caribou migration, which she observed the previous year. The pursuit of her dreams remains the driving force behind her life's journey. She stresses the importance of believing in your dreams, using visualisation as a crucial tool to achieve your goals.

Corinne also encourages people to ask for help, emphasizing the openness and wealth of resources in Canada.

A universal message of inspiration

After her speech, Corinne opened the space for questions, inviting everyone to share their own dreams. Her story particularly resonated with immigrants, offering a valuable source of inspiration from someone who built her life from nothing.

Corinne is the author of the book "Channeling with Buddha", available on Amazon, adding an additional dimension to her remarkable journey.

If you are a newcomer to the NWT and would like to improve your level in English, you can register for LINC courses free of charge throughout the year (except August), subject to certain conditions.
