Why become a host family or host individual?

Hosting a participant in the Explore Program is much more than sharing a roof:

  • It is an opportunity to showcase the local Francophone community and help strengthen its vitality
  • It allows you to connect with a motivated adult who is curious about your culture and way of life
  • It helps create meaningful human connections, often marked by lasting memories
  • It also includes financial compensation in recognition of your commitment

Hosting conditions:

  • Dates: June 15 to July 17, 2026
  • Location: Yellowknife
  • Age of participants: 19 years and older
  • Compensation: $1,500 per hosted participant

Expected responsibilities:

  • Accommodation
  • Two meals per day (breakfast and dinner) from Monday to Friday
  • Three meals on Saturdays, Sundays, and statutory holidays

Deadline to express interest: February 27, 2026

A security screening (criminal background check) and a room inspection are required prior to hosting.
