The beginning of a new year is often an opportunity to set new goals, such as learning a language, developing new skills, advancing your career or bringing a project to life.
With only a few months left in 2026, August is a good time to reflect on those goals and think about what you would still like to accomplish this year.
Are you familiar with all the resources available at Collège Nordique that can help you get there? Gallup-certified CliftonStrengths® coaching services, the Francophone and francophile Talent Incubator, the Bilingual Literacy Outreach Centre, conversation workshops and mentorship programs, customized training for businesses and organizations, exam proctoring and room rentals: our services extend well beyond the courses and programs you may already know.
Whether you want to learn something new, develop your skills, move a project forward or support your team, here are some of the resources available at Collège Nordique that could help you achieve your goals before the end of the year.
Are you looking to improve your French or Tłı̨chǫ, learn Spanish for an upcoming trip, or start learning English? Collège Nordique offers a variety of opportunities to learn a language or continue developing your skills based on your level and goals.
In French as a second language, for example, learners can progress step by step through four beginner levels and four intermediate levels. Beginner and intermediate conversation courses also provide opportunities to develop greater confidence speaking French, while Independent 1 and 2 are designed for learners who want to continue developing more advanced language skills.
For those who would like to try a language before committing to a course, free introductory classes in French, Spanish and Tłı̨chǫ will also be offered at the start of the new term. It’s a great opportunity to get an introduction to a language and see if you would like to continue learning.
Language learning can also happen through conversation, mentorship and community connections.
Collège Nordique offers Café de Paris workshops, free French conversation workshops designed for people working in healthcare and health related fields. These sessions provide an opportunity to practise French in a context related to participants’ professional realities and become more confident communicating in the language.
Free healthcare mentorship is also available, giving participants another opportunity to practise and develop their French-language skills in a professional context.
Collège Nordique also offers a mentorship and matching program with Dene Elders, creating opportunities for learning through conversation, connection and knowledge sharing. Contact our team to know more about the mentorship and partnership programs.
Language learning can also take place in the workplace. Collège Nordique offers customized language training for organizations, allowing training to be adapted to the needs of their teams.
Newcomers may also have access to language courses at no cost through the LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) program for English and the CLIC (Cours de langue pour les immigrants au Canada) program for French. Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), these programs are available to eligible adults, including permanent residents and protected persons.
In addition to developing language skills, the courses cover topics related to Canadian culture and help support the settlement and integration of newcomers. A language assessment is used to determine the appropriate level before training begins.
Developing your skills, gaining new knowledge or having your experience recognized can help open new professional opportunities.
For those who work or would like to work with young children, Collège Nordique offers the Early Childhood Education program in French, a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition process, open-access online training and professional development workshops.
Collège Nordique also offers Gallup-certified CliftonStrengths® coaching services, individually or in groups. This approach helps participants identify their natural talents, better understand how those talents show up in their daily lives and learn how to use them to achieve their goals.
In a professional setting, coaching can also help teams better understand each person’s strengths, recognize how different talents complement one another and consider how they can be applied in the workplace.
Whether through individual coaching or as part of a team, the goal is to build on what each person naturally does well to further develop their potential.
Collège Nordique also offers room rentals for events, meetings and activities. Contact our team to discuss your organization’s needs and the services that could help you meet them.
Studying or working in the North shouldn’t be a barrier when an exam needs to be completed under supervision.
Collège Nordique offers an exam proctoring service, allowing individuals who need to complete an exam as part of their studies, training or professional development to do so in a supervised environment.
Contact our team to learn more about our exam proctoring service and schedule your session.
Some goals begin with an idea or a project you would like to develop. And why not do it in French?
The Francophone Talent Incubator is one of the community services offered by Collège Nordique. It provides participants with a space to develop their skills and move their projects forward with a community of talents. If you're Francophone or did French immersion and are comfortable enough to challenge yourself in French, you are in the right place.
Finding the right resources and support can be an important first step in turning an idea into a concrete project. And we decided to give a 2000$ mobility grant to one of the projects. Stay tuned, the incubator starts in October.
Learning can also address very practical needs in everyday life.
At the Bilingual Literacy Outreach Centre, community members can receive support to learn to read and write, use a computer and the Internet, manage their money, or learn to speak French or English, all at their own pace.
The Centre is open to newcomers, Indigenous peoples, seniors, adults facing barriers and families.
There are still several months left in the year. This is an opportunity to think about the projects you would like to start or continue and the resources that can help you achieve them.
Learning a language, developing professional skills, bringing a project to life or gaining new knowledge: Collège Nordique offers a variety of opportunities to support you in achieving your goals.
Explore our courses, programs and services, and use the months ahead to move the projects that matter to you forward.
